OUR MISSION: 

To promote and protect the interest of the Australian Labradoodle, and to unite the Australian Labradoodle breeders in America in an organized club, supporting and having fellowship with one another.  ALCA strives to provide information, education and mentorship to current and future owners, enthusiasts,  and breeders of the true Australian Labradoodle in America.

 

Australian Labradoodle Club of America provides top-notch support and fellowship to the Australian Labradoodle Breeders in America.  Through our love, experience, and dedication to the Australian Labradoodle breed, the Australian Labradoodle Club of America members are committed to joining together in our efforts to assure a firm future for the Australian Labradoodle. 

 

ALCA Certified Australian Labradoodle designation is available to any registered dog that meets the ALCA qualifications.

 

 

 

 

 

Our Registrar will research the pedigree of the dog by verifying the documentation submitted and on the ALCA database.  Every pedigree in the lineage must be verified and all dogs in the lineage must have on file the pedigree produced by the breeder (not the owner unless breeder/owner).  The pedigree must be completely traceable by breeder produced pedigree, back to the Australian lines.

The dog being certified must have no more than a total of one Poodle infusion behind the dog being certified for the first three generations of its pedigree.  Infusion of any other foundation breeds are not acceptable for Australian Labradoodle Certification.

A fee of $5.00 is charged to research the pedigree of each dog to establish qualification for Certification as an Australian Labradoodle.  If found that the dog does not qualify for certification, the fee is non-refundable.

If any dog is in question, certification would not be issued until DNA confirmation (at the owners expense) could verify the correct lineage. 

 

 

 

  The AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLE CLUB OF AMERICA was formed by the breeders of the Australian Labradoodle in America as the “Parent Club” striving toward  “purebred” recognition of the breed.   We are committed to protecting the health and well-being of  the Australian Labradoodle by upholding the Breed Standards and maintaining the integrity of the breed as established by the breed developers in Australia.  Our goal for the future is to always strive for excellence in our breeding practices in order to maintain the integrity of the breed and protect the Australian Labradoodle now and into the future.

ALCA was founded in 2005 with the future of the Australian Labradoodle and the American breeders in mind.  The format of the Club is in keeping with the structure and standards set forth by The American Kennel Club (AKC).

Why should I look for the Certified Australian Labradoodle logo?

  ALCA recognizes that not all dogs identified as Australian Labradoodles are the real deal.  The certification is an effort to make clear the identification process available to those interested in purchasing a true Australian Labradoodle. 

  Dogs that are awarded the ALCA Certified Australian Labradoodle logo have lineage that is traced back to the Australian lines produced by the breed developers (Tegan Park and/or Rutland Manor).

  In the first years that the Australian Labradoodle was imported to North America, the gene pool was limited and per the recommendations of the breed developers, the Poodle was selectively used to increase that gene pool without loosing the qualities of the breed.

  ALCA has accepted the infusion of one foundation breed (the Poodle) to be bred back into the lines from Australia.   This allowance was made to take into account coat corrections that may be necessary to maintain the allergy friendly coat and reduce shedding.

The Certified Australian Labradoodle designation takes into consideration the early Poodle infusions, allowing no more than one Poodle infusion.  The infusion must be in the third generation (behind the certified dog) and all other dogs in the pedigree must be true Australian Labradoodles.  This assures the attributes of the Australian Labradoodle will carry through to the offspring thus maintaining the characteristics so enjoyed in this breed.

 As of January 1, 2011, ALCA will no longer allow for new registration of infusions of any foundation breeds, including the Poodle.  However, offspring of those infused dogs already in the database will continue to be eligible for registration and certification.
